La Jolla Country Day has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will take on the Birmingham Patriots at 5:00 p.m. La Jolla Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Birmingham likes a good challenge.
La Jolla Country Day pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-58 to Etiwanda. While losing is never fun, La Jolla Country Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Etiwanda is ranked second).
Despite the defeat, La Jolla Country Day got a solid performance out of Naomi Panganiban, who scored 40 points along with 6 rebounds. The game was Panganiban's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mei-ling Perry, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Birmingham unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost to Village Christian on the road by a decisive 72-53 margin. Birmingham has struggled against Village Christian recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 5-2.
