On Saturday, The Spring Grove Lions faced the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Spring Grove walked away with a 27-20 victory over LeRoy-Ostrander. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Spring Grove was the (much) better team in the second half.
When it comes to explaining why LeRoy-Ostrander lost, one person who can't be blamed is Camden Hungerholt. Despite the final result, he rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Hungerholt hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for ten straight games.
The win (which was Spring Grove's third in a row) raised their record to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.3 points per game. As for LeRoy-Ostrander, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Spring Grove will face off against Kingsland at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kingsland's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. LeRoy-Ostrander does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
