Baseball Recap: Lowell Has No Trouble Against Balboa

Lowell came out on top against Balboa on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fifth inning. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Reggie Fong, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 games. Emerson Sakai also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Lowell and bumps their season record up to 14-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Balboa, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coming up, Lowell will face off against Woodside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Balboa, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mission at 3:30 p.m. on the 30th.
