Softball Recap: Frederick Extends Winning Streak to Four

Frederick won against Moffat County on Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Golden Eagles' way against the Longmont Trojans as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Elayna Fisher spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izzy Horne, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ella Stromberg was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Frederick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Longmont only posted an OBP of .227.

The win (which was Frederick's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Longmont, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Frederick will challenge rival Monarch at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Longmont is set to square off against their familiar foe Niwot at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
