Munster is 4-0 against Thornton Fractional South since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Munster Mustangs will be home for the holidays to greet the Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Munster has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 23 points or more this season. They took their matchup on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 59-28 victory over Hanover Central. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Munster has managed all season.
Munster can attribute much of their success to Gracyn Gilliard, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds, and Nina Garner, who scored 15 points along with nine steals and six assists. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Gilliard has scored at least 25% of Munster's points. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Mason, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Thornton Fractional South strolled past Thornwood with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 49-35. Given Thornton Fractional South's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Thornwood is ranked 476th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Munster is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Thornton Fractional South, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
