Etna and Weed are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Etna Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Weed Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Etna will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 841st, while Weed is ranked 203rd).
Etna's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Modoc on the road and fell 60-15. Etna was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Weed ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 victory over Trinity. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Weed has posted yet this season.
Etna has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Weed, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home.
Etna came up short against Weed in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 40-31. Will Etna have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
