Syracuse had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-15 to make it six. They fell just short of the Arlington Eagles by a score of 6-5. If the Rockets were looking for revenge after losing 9-1 to the Eagles when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Jade Campbell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Mayson Sprague was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Arlington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.
On Arlington's side, Tessa Spivey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Spivey was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Pittman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mya Dowty, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, Syracuse will be playing at home against Wilber-Clatonia at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.56 runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arlington, they will head out to take on Yutan-Mead at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
