Union Pines is 10-0 against Southern Lee since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Union Pines Vikings will look to defend their home court against the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Union Pines will be strutting in after a victory while Southern Lee will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, Union Pines beat Hoke County 51-44. The victory was just what Union Pines needed coming off of a 73-40 defeat in their prior contest.
Union Pines' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikayla Dunn led the charge by scoring 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dunn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Corryn McCutchen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Southern Lee, who are still winless after their 11th matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 62-22 loss at the hands of Hoke County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Southern Lee has suffered since December 4, 2023.
Union Pines now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Southern Lee, they bumped their record down to 0-11 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.
Everything went Union Pines' way against Southern Lee in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Union Pines made off with a 50-24 win. Does Union Pines have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southern Lee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
