After flying high against the Cristo Rey Philadelphia Blue Pride last Saturday, the Sun Valley Vanguards came back down to earth. Sun Valley took a 54-38 bruising from Bayard Rustin on Monday. While losing is never fun, Sun Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Bayard Rustin is ranked 69th).
Riley Stackhouse was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds for Bayard Rustin. Stackhouse has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Gia DiMichele was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Bayard Rustin, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
Sun Valley will head out on the road to square off against Collegium Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bayard Rustin, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Great Valley at 6:45 p.m. on January 30th. Great Valley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
