The Wichita County Indians pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Wichita County and Lakin wasn't particularly close, with Wichita County falling 73-59. While losing is never fun, Wichita County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Lakin is ranked 27th).
Wichita County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cashton Young, who scored 12 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Harbin, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Wichita County and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Lakin, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wichita County will take on Greeley County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakin, they will be playing at home against Southwestern Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
