Given Coalinga's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while McLane is ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coalinga's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Love, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. The matchup was Love's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Julia Gressman, who scored 11 points along with 6 steals.
Coalinga's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for McLane, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coalinga will challenge Kerman at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McLane, they will head out on the road to face off against Fresno Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Fresno Christian is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
