After three games on the road, Clairton is heading back home. They will take on the California Trojans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Clairton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Clairton has not done well against Winchester Thurston recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Clairton strolled past Winchester Thurston with points to spare, taking the game 73-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Iyanna Wade continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 56 points. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Clairton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of K Brown, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, California scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They snuck past Frazier with a 60-56 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Clairton's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for California, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Clairton came out on top in a nail-biter against California when the teams last played back in February of 2020, sneaking past 43-41. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was California's Makayla Boda, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Clairton to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
