The McNair Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Stagg Delta Kings on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Delta Kings. McNair's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
McNair's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malia Do, who scored five points along with 14 rebounds and six blocks. Do hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of kathalyna phanhsavang, who scored 24 points.
Jameelah Pharms continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Stagg, dropping a double-double on 41 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Pharms has scored at least a third of Stagg's points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Martinez, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
McNair's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Stagg, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.
McNair will be playing at home against Edison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edison is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Stagg, they will head out on the road to square off against Weston Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
