Grovetown has gone a perfect 4-0 against Newton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Grovetown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Grovetown is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Archer just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.
Jada Fulbright and Iman Wright stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fulbright got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, while Wright earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Treasure Story was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Newton didn't have quite enough to beat Grayson on Thursday and fell 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Newton has suffered against Grayson since August 22, 2023.
London Treadwell was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Treadwell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Treadwell wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aaliyah Parsons, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Newton's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Grovetown, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grovetown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Newton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Grovetown's way against Newton in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Grovetown made off with an 11-3 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
