Aptos is 10-0 against the Pirates since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Aptos Mariners will stay at home for another game and welcome the Harbor Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Aptos struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Cardinals had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Aptos took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. Aptos has struggled against the Cardinals recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gabby Wickham, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Eliya Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Harbor's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 12th straight loss. Their tough 39-16 defeat to San Lorenzo Valley might stick with them for a while.
Malalai Martin Etemadi was Harbor's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Aptos' defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8. As for Harbor, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Aptos against the Pirates in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 51-24 victory. With Aptos ahead 29-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
