The Paraclete Spirits are taking a road trip to take on the Castaic Coyotes at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Paraclete will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Friday, Paraclete got the win against St. Anthony by a conclusive 12-2. The Spirits might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Christian Saenz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, Nick Gonzales was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Julian Trejo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Paraclete always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Castaic sidestepped Golden Valley for a 2-1 victory.
Orion Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Castaic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Fava, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Paraclete's record is now 10-3. As for Castaic, their record now sits at 9-6.
Paraclete was able to grind out a solid win over Castaic when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 12-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spirits since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
