The Otto-Eldred Terrors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They breezed by Smethport at home to the tune of 64-37. The win was just what Otto-Eldred needed coming off of a 56-29 defeat in their prior game.
Otto-Eldred's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kate Rhinehart led the charge by scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Addie Bell, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Smethport saw an underclassman step up: Payton Neff scored 15 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Goodman, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Smethport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. This was only their 11th loss (out of 14 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Otto-Eldred is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Smethport, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
Otto-Eldred has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Coudersport at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Coudersport is coming into the matchup with nine straight wins on the road, so Otto-Eldred is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Smethport, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-33 defeat vs. Oswayo Valley on the 8th.
