The El Dorado Cougars won the last time they faced the Rio Americano Raiders, and things went their way on Tuesday too. El Dorado came out on top against Rio Americano by a score of 47-35. Given El Dorado's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Rio Americano is ranked 942nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alana Schneider was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Fulton, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Despite the defeat, Rio Americano had strong showings from Ella Cruz, who scored 11 points, and Katie Ghazanfari, who scored 10 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for El Dorado and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Rio Americano, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Dorado is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Nevada Union at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Nevada Union is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Rio Americano, they will head out on the road to face off against Stevenson at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
