The Moorpark Musketeers will take on the Royal Highlanders at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Moorpark 3.7, Royal 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Friday, Moorpark was able to grind out a solid win over Oak Park, taking the game 8-3.
Carson Cerny made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Ronan O'Connell and Blake Guy dominated on the mound. O'Connell tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Guy tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moorpark is 2-1 when Guy allowsone or fewer hits, but 1-2 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Busch, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Leon Chavez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Moorpark hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Royal entered their tilt with Agoura on Thursday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Chargers 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Dustin Dunnwoody looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brady Hewitt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Zachary Nagy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Moorpark's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.75 runs. As for Royal, their record is now 6-1.
Moorpark skirted past Royal 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moorpark since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
