The Enochs Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They lost to Downey at home by a decisive 54-37 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Enochs of the 37-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Enochs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Quinones, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maya Ramsay, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Enochs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. This was only their 15th loss (out of 20 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Downey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexis Monroy, who scored 20 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Monroy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zadie Carraway,, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Enochs has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Downey, their victory bumped their record up to 6-17.
Enochs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Downey also has no future games currently scheduled.
