Grimsley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Southwest Guilford Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Grimsley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Southwest Guilford is ranked 122nd).
Even though Grimsley has not done well against Page recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Grimsley managed a 36-32 victory over Page.
Grimsley can attribute much of their success to Sanaya Blount, who scored ten points along with three steals, and Autumn Clark, who scored ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Clark is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Alyssa Graves was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southwest Guilford can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. Everything went their way against Ragsdale as Southwest Guilford made off with a 56-31 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Southwest Guilford has posted since December 5, 2023.
Grimsley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Southwest Guilford, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Grimsley beat Southwest Guilford 55-47 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Does Grimsley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southwest Guilford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
