The St. Martin de Porres Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success  on Thursday. They came out on top against Our Lady of the Elms by a score of  55-47. The  win was a breath of fresh air for St. Martin de Porres as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
  Lyric Johnson was  her usual excellent self,  scoring 22 points along with six  rebounds and five  steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kasandra Colon-Cintron, who  scored four points along with eight  steals.
 Our Lady of the Elms lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Pilar Hampton, who  dropped  a double-double on 23 points and 11  rebounds. That was a full 48.9% of Our Lady of the Elms' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's  earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was  Palmer Hampton, who  scored 11 points along with five  assists and three  steals.
 St. Martin de Porres now  has a winning record of 7-6. As for Our Lady of the Elms, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with that  loss, which was their third straight  on the road.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Martin de Porres will take on Cleveland Central Catholic at 11:30  a.m.  on Sunday. Cleveland Central Catholic comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the  squad is of course eager to reverse. Our Lady of the Elms will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lawrence Upper at 6:00  p.m.  on January 22nd.
