The Miramonte Matadors will square off against the Washington Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Miramonte has four straight victories, Washington has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Miramonte earned a 54-43 victory over Clayton Valley Charter.
Karena Eberts continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Miramonte's points. Maegan Eichenberger was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Washington suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by James Logan 66-22. While losing is never fun, Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th, while James Logan is ranked 239th).
Miramonte's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. As for Washington, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Miramonte against Washington in their previous matchup back in February of 2018 as the team secured a 92-30 victory. With Miramonte ahead 46-21 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
