With a playoff game on the line, the Leuzinger Olympians rose to the challenge on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 62-60. The high-scoring effort was just what Leuzinger needed considering they were shutout in their previous zero contest.
Leuzinger's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Watts led the charge by scoring 29 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Watts is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 23 or more in the last four games she's played. Dresha Moore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Leuzinger's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Marlborough, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-13.
Leuzinger does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marlborough also has no future games currently scheduled.
