The Hargrave Military Academy Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past The Covenant 86-40 at home. Given Hargrave Military Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Eagles are ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dante Kearse continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 43 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Brooks, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Hargrave Military Academy pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 91.0 points per game. As for The Covenant, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hargrave Military Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Celtics at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in Roanoke Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for The Covenant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. King Abdullah Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
