Baseball Recap: Aquinas Wins Going Away Against Howard

While Aquinas didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over the Howard Huskies on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Fightin' Irish, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jim Franklin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Aquinas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Howard only posted an OBP of .333.

The victory made it two in a row for Aquinas and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Howard, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Aquinas will have a chance to go back-to-back against Howard: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
