If the Fairfax Stampede were riding high off their 74-36 takedown of the South Mountain Jaguars last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fairfax was dealt a 97-63 loss at the hands of Central on Friday. Fairfax has not had much luck with Central recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Fairfax lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nickolas Williams, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Pablos, who scored nine points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Central had a senior duo take command as Sabih Almasri scored 30 points along with three steals and Aligo Banja dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Banja has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Butler, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Fairfax's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
Fairfax will be playing at home against Metro Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Metro Tech is coming into the contest with nine straight victories on the road, so Fairfax is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Central, they will be playing at home against North Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 613 points over their last eight games.
