The Conemaugh Township Indians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They snuck past Cambria Heights with a 46-42 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Conemaugh Township as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
It was another big night for Ava Byer, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Conemaugh Township's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Brenneman, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Cambria Heights lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sienna Kirsch. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Kirsch's tenth in a row with at least ten points.
Even though they lost, Cambria Heights were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conemaugh Township only pulled down 22 offensive rebounds.
Conemaugh Township's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Cambria Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conemaugh Township will take on West Shamokin at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (West Shamokin is ranked 449th, while Conemaugh Township is ranked 436th). As for Cambria Heights, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Penns Manor at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Penns Manor will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
