The Bonita Vista Barons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Olympian 67-39 on the road. With Bonita Vista ahead 43-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Bonita Vista was led to victory by Mahliya Wilson and Bayanai Cordova. Wilson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Cordova scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Wilson hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Haydee Arancibia-hardwick was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Olympian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Asia Darcuiel. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That was a full 38.5% of Olympian's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Agpaoa, who scored 14 points.
Bonita Vista's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-11. As for Olympian, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonita Vista will take on the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Mater Dei Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Olympian, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Victory Christian Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
