Baseball Recap: Bishop Montgomery Finds Home Field Redemption Against St. Monica

There's no place like home for Bishop Montgomery, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Monica Mariners on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Mariners last Tuesday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Dominic Robley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Pierson Howe looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bishop Montgomery is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise.

Robley wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Hall, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Bishop Montgomery is undefeated when Hall posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise.

Bishop Montgomery now has a winning record of 10-9. As for St. Monica, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Coming up, Bishop Montgomery will square off against South at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.6, the Spartans 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for St. Monica, they will face off against Salesian at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.94 runs per game on average), something the Mariners will no doubt try to take advantage of.
