This season hasn't been kind to the Sacramento Country Day Cavaliers, who are still winless after their 13th game. They took a serious blow against Valley Christian on Saturday, falling 58-30. While losing is never fun, Sacramento Country Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1235th, while the Lions are ranked 376th).
Valley Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariah Contreras out in front who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janet Donkor, who scored 17 points.
Sacramento Country Day's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Valley Christian, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacramento Country Day will take on the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckingham Charter comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Valley Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. Faith Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
