Even though the Chester Volcanoes have not done well against the Loyalton Grizzlies recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Chester snuck past Loyalton with a 43-39 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Chester.
Loyalton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sophie Holland, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Holland has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played. Catherine Petterson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Chester's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Loyalton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chester the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Portola at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. Loyalton will take on Princeton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Princeton is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
