Arete Prep has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Miami Vandals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Arete Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Miami is ranked 47th).
On Wednesday, Arete Prep came up short against Gilbert Classical Academy and fell 40-32.
In what's become a running theme this season, Miami gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They breezed by Gilbert Classical Academy at home to the tune of 67-6. The win was nothing new for Miami as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Miami's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tamia Pietila, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Pietila is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetria Dosela, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Arete Prep dropped their record down to 7-17 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Miami, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
Arete Prep might still be hurting after the 48-23 defeat they got from Miami in their previous matchup on January 8th. Can Arete Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
