Basketball Recap: Carrick Takes a Loss

After a string of three wins, Carrick's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a 60-24 loss at the hands of the Geibel Catholic Gators. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Gators are ranked 151st).

Geibel Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Larkin, who went 11 for 21 on her way to 24 points and five rebounds. Larkin has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 33 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Clemmer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Carrick's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Geibel Catholic, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrick will venture away from home to take on Northgate at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Geibel Catholic, they will head out to square off against Avella at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Geibel Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
