The Petaluma Trojans will take on the Redwood Giants at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Petaluma 2.4, Redwood 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Petaluma is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against American Canyon on Thursday as they made off with an 18-1 win. Considering the Trojans have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Arlo Pendleton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Rowan Ball was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Jack Pattison was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
Petaluma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American Canyon only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Redwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Saint Francis on Saturday, sneaking past 4-3.
Jake Post looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Redwood saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Gersch, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Miles Harrison, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Redwood's victory bumped their record up to 12-8-1. As for Petaluma, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Petaluma has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Redwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
