The Westminster Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 49-29 walloping at the hands of Godinez Fundamental. Westminster was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.
Godinez Fundamental found their leader in underclassman Julissa Mota, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Brianna Lopez, who scored seven points along with nine steals.
Westminster's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-15. As for Godinez Fundamental, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster will take on Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Segerstrom presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westminster in California (Segerstrom is ranked 259th, while Westminster is ranked 1139th). As for Godinez Fundamental, they will head out on the road to face off against Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Katella will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
