St. Mary extended their home winning streak to four games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Gracie Williamson. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats with a sharp 53-32 win on Friday thanks in part to Williamson, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game.

Despite the defeat, Hartington-Newcastle saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vayda Lippert posted 14 points along with six boards and three blocks. That was a full 43.8% of the Wildcats' points, marking the fourth time in a row Lippert has scored more than a third of the team's points. Ziva Stratman also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

St. Mary's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hartington-Newcastle, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

St. Mary's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-27 win against Neligh-Oakdale on the 16th. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-30 defeat against Niobrara/Verdigre on the 16th.
