There's no place like home for the Barnes Academy Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cambridge Academy 66-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Cambridge Academy had strong showings from Maddox Lee, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 6 assists, and Andrew Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Lee continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Barnes Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Cambridge Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barnes Academy will face off against Temple Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Temple Christian Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games. Cambridge Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against King Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. King Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
