Baseball Recap: South Beats Mira Monte for Their Third Straight Win

South entered their tilt with Mira Monte on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tomas Encinas was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Jose Bojorquez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for South: the team is 11-3 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Encinas, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mira Monte only managed one hit.

South's record is now 14-7. As for Mira Monte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

South will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
