Baseball Game Preview: Victory Christian Academy Eagles vs. Laytonville Warriors

Victory Christian Academy is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Laytonville a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Victory Christian Academy Eagles will welcome the Laytonville Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Victory Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Victory Christian Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Potter Valley on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Bearcats 33-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Eddie Lindstrom was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Victory Christian Academy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 1-6 otherwise. Lindstrom was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with four runs and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Victory Christian Academy got a massive performance out of JT Russell, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave Russell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hadley, who went 4-for-6 with four runs and three RBI.

Victory Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.6.

Meanwhile, Laytonville came up short against Grace Christian Academy on Tuesday, falling 10-1.

Victory Christian Academy's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Laytonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Victory Christian Academy skirted past Laytonville 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
