Despite the loss, El Cajon Valley had strong showings from Anna Nyarsuk, who scored three points along with five blocks and four steals, and Onnamarie Miller, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and five blocks. Christiana Macias was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
El Cajon Valley was without their leading scorer, McKinley Morgan, in Friday's game. With Morgan sitting this one out, Braelyn Rojas got some extra time on the court (eight vs. her season average of 4.4).
El Cajon Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Steele Canyon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.
