The Cowanesque Valley Indians will face off against the Benton Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cowanesque Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
Cowanesque Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Northeast Bradford by a score of 10-6. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
Levi Stahli was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Cowanesque Valley let Hunter Simonds and Dave Hess run wild. Simonds went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Hess went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave Hess a new career-high. William Kies was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Cowanesque Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Bradford only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Benton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Millville 3-2. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.
Benton's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Beishline, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Benton's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Cowanesque Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Cowanesque Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Benton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cowanesque Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Benton when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 3-0. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
