Notre Dame is 0-10 against the Panthers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Notre Dame Tigers will get right back to it and host the Pinewood Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Notre Dame has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while the Panthers will arrive with seven straight victories.
On Monday, Notre Dame came up short against the Gryphons and fell 54-46. Notre Dame has struggled against the Gryphons recently, as their match on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Pinewood strolled past the Panthers with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 56-42. Given Pinewood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Panthers are ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinewood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Facelo, who scored 21 points. Facelo is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolyn Ding, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Notre Dame dropped their record down to 9-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Pinewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
