The Cook Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Rockmart Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cook comes in on 11 and Rockmart on ten.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cook had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles and snuck past 23-20.
Cook got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keshun Mckever out in front who rushed for 145 yards.
Meanwhile, Rockmart stacked a ninth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Toombs County 45-21. Rockmart's win was all the more impressive since Toombs County was averaging only 12.92 points allowed on the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockmart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Calliyon Thompson, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Nahzir Turner was in the mix too, providing Rockmart with two touchdowns.
Cook's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Rockmart, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-2 record.
