Fossil Ridge extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 9-14-1. They skirted past the Fruita Monument Wildcats 10-8. That's more bragging rights for the SaberCats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
The team relied heavily on Briella Myers, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Fossil Ridge lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
As for Fruita Monument, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 2.71 runs allowed.
On Fruita Monument's side, Teagan Clements put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Clements was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Cutshall was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base. Addison Hopper was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Coming up, Fossil Ridge will be taking part in a tournament against Pine Creek at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the SaberCats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fruita Monument, they will take on Arapahoe in a tournament on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
