The Encinal Jets are taking a road trip to face off against the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Encinal hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Encinal made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Liberty, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Jets fell just short of the Lions by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday.
Encinal got a good showing from Darren Olson, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Encinal saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matan Antebi, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Berkeley came up short against Castro Valley on Friday and fell 8-5.
Quinton Hill put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Akanni Owodunni made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Encinal's record now sits at 12-5. As for Berkeley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 15-2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Encinal has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berkeley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Encinal beat Berkeley 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Jets repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
