Baseball Recap: Orosi Victorious

Orosi barely beat Wonderful College Prep Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolves a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cardinals have beaten the Wolves the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolves has come to flipping the script.

Micheal Lopez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Orosi got a massive performance out of Christopher Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Melchor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Orosi lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Orosi's victory bumped their record up to 10-11-1. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
