The Boron Bobcats suffered their biggest loss since November 13, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 53-26 loss at the hands of Kern Valley. Boron was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.
Despite the defeat, Boron had strong showings from Hailey Davis, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Makayah Hillman, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 57.7% of Boron's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Boron struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Kern Valley racked up 11 assists.
Kern Valley was led to victory by Jayda Bushling and Ava Elliott. Bushling scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists, while Elliott dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Elliott hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Elli Jeans was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Boron has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Kern Valley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.
Boron will be playing at home against Foothill at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kern Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Desert at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
