Glenn hasn't had much luck against Cerritos recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will square off against the Dons at 3:15 p.m.
Oxford Academy hit Glenn with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Patriots, falling 9-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 24, 2023, but that streak is no more.
David Segura made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Cerritos won against Pioneer on Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Dons blew past the Titans 18-1. Considering the Dons have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jayce Aragon made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Uriah Archie was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ju, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Cerritos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Cerritos has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Glenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Glenn has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cerritos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Glenn came out on top in a nail-biter against Cerritos when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Dons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
