Baseball Recap: Mclane Has No Trouble Against Sanger

McLane's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Sanger Apaches with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

McLane's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Max Corona, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Corona is becoming a predictor of the Highlanders' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Another was Francisco Aleman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

The victory got McLane back to even at 10-10. As for Sanger, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-7 record.

Coming up, McLane will take on Taft in a tournament on Monday. As for Sanger, they will head out on the road to challenge Lemoore at 3:10 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Apaches 3.5, the Tigers 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
